We have an immediate need for a Technical Writers

JOB DESCRIPTION
Great opportunity for long term contract assignments for Technical Writers with a military and engineering background with one of our clients near the coast of South Carolina. These Technical Writers will write technical material for military vehicle publications, and will write operator and maintenance procedures. Will catalog components by functional group codes using MIL-STDs or other customer format requirements. Will review vehicle build documentation, photograph equipment to facilitate illustration, and identify parts and kits in support of provisioning efforts. Will collect vendor pubs and warranty data, and will identify critical maintenance requirements, vendors and part numbers, determine illustration requirements, and identify special tools and test equipment. Will perform occasional proposal writing, and all other given assignments or duties.
Knowledge and skills required include the ability to read and understand engineering data, white papers, drawings; ability to develop technical writing from scratch, not just process documentation; knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems; knowledge of MIL-STD-40051-2 and MIL-HDBK-1222C ; and strong technical background.
Desired skills and education include Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline; knowledge of FrameMaker, version 7 or higher; and ability to create IPL (Illustrated Parts List).
