Description
This position will perform tasks such as developing and presenting security training sessions, developing and managing Security Administation web site, developing online employee security awareness training, documenting security procedures, developing technical documents detailing use of security software and tools, etc.

The selected person MUST have excellent writing and communication skills. In addition to a broad information technology background, the selected person should have experience developing online and paper-based educational courses and courseware, experience with public speaking or training, research capabilities, as well as experience in information technology areas such as web development, IT security, and software design.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive experience in drafting and editing technical documentation and procedures.

  • At least 1 year experience developing training programs and courseware.

  • 3 years experience teaching (classroom and/or online) in a University or government setting.

  • 3 years experience designing and developing ADA compliant web sites.

  • Experience writing white papers summarizing research findings or detailing technical issues. See instructions for sending samples below!

  • Experience developing and pesenting Power Point lectures.

  • Well developed ability to grasp technical issues quickly.

  • Demonstrated knowedge of various IT areas including security, web development, application development, and communications.

  • Ability to research complex issues, critically analyze information and then make effective decisions.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.

  • Experience training both technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Experience translating technical content into non-technical, easily-understood language.


Examples of Tasks to be Performed

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor online security awareness training for all DOH staff.

  • Assist the Security Team with writing, reviewing, proofing and editing technical documentation for dissemination to the department.

  • Create document-based and online documentation.

  • Design and develop the Security Administration web site for use by department workers, security coordinators, and system administrators.

  • Develop and present Power Point lectures for annual system administrator/security coordinator/privacy officer state meetings.

  • Ensure that written information produced by the Security Team is provided in a form that makes it easy to access and understand for the target audience, and presented professionally and in a way that is consistent with the HIPAA standards for publications.

  • Assist the Security Team in the development, maintenance and presentation of risk assessment criteria.

  • Assist in the development of applications to facilitate security metrics monitoring.

  • Develop metrics to evaluate the usefulness and effectiveness of security initiatives.

  • Work closely with Security Staff in order to understand products, services and procedures necessary to produce quality documentation and publications.

  • Stay abreast of innovative technologies that can improve the services or operational activities of the publication area.
  • Research and suggest tools to streamline processes.

  • Work with technical and non-technical DOH Staff.
