About the Position

The Technology Manager is responsible for overall management of the company’s database, web and other technology systems.  He or she is the primary connection from the company’s data systems to the finance and accounting team – providing the necessary reports and data analysis required to report revenue, sales and costs accurately.  He/she works closely with the center staff to improve and update the registration database that serves as the central point of business and data collection for the company. The Technology Manager is the key point person for the company’s website that offers online registration of classes by customers.  eCommerce is not yet a function of the website but is in development.  The Technology Manager is the liaison to the technology services support company that provides network and hardware maintenance services as well as some user technical support.  The Technology Manager works to create and foster a positive and professional work environment for the entire team.    

Responsibilities

Finance/Accounting/Reporting

• Assist in the creation, running, and management of various revenue and sales reports.
• Closely troubleshoot problems with Finance Manager and accountants to ensure accuracy.

Software/Website

• Write and maintain all internal applications and backend programming needs, as well as client facing website.

Technology Services Liaison

• Work closely with company’s outsourced technology services company

Requirements

• Familiarity with Oracle PL/SQL Programming (Oracle 10g R2)
• Knowledge of Oracle Application Express (Internal administrative dashboard) a plus
• Experience of Java (class registration application)
• Experience in Ruby/Rails, HTML, CSS, JavaScript (Website)
• Familiar with Windows Server 2003
• Experience with Retail Point of Sale System (Retail Star by Cam Commerce preferred)
• Experience in an entrepreneurial environment a plus
• Computer engineering or computer science degree a plus; or related work experience
• Some local travel is necessary (to locations in Brookline and Arlington) access to reliable transportation is necessary
