Perot Systems Corporation is a worldwide provider of information technology services and business solutions to a broad range of clients. We are currently looking for a Telecommunications Technician to join our team in Palm Springs, California.

Job Responsibilities:

This position provides hands-on solutions to telecommunications installations and problems and participates in design and development of innovative, cost-effective solutions to customer problems. This level is usually assigned to a specific portion of a telecommunications issue. Typically provides basic software/hardware support on standard systems, investigating, analyzing, and resolving problems on selected products. This is an entry-level position, and a major component of the job involves training for higher responsibility level. Knowledge of standard principles, theories, concepts, and technology is essential.

Typical Duties
  • Maintains a pre-existing telephone switch, PBX, telephones for a medium size single site or multiple smaller sites.
  • Completes associate internal moves, adds or changes in a timely, efficient manner. May include simple software programming, cross connect changes, and hardware moves.
  • Responds to trouble calls as assigned by upper level Telecommunications associates.
  • Assists in major real estate moves for assigned locations. Reviews move list and does preliminary work to assure smooth move i.e., finds and verifies equipment, determines and replaces missing components, determines and acquires additional needed equipment.
  • As assigned, contacts outside vendors and coordinates specific service delivery.
  • Distributes phone numbers to on-line phonebooks and telephone operators.

    Required Skills:
  • Requires minimum 2+ years of progressive related Telecom experience or combination of related education and experience.
  • Experience with Adds, Moves, Changes to PBX and voice mail systems
  • Experience with Spectralink Adds, Moves, Changes
  • Some Nortel platform experience a must.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills necessary
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

    Desired Skills:
  • Nortel Certification a plus
  • Knowledge of Remedy or OPAS ticketing systems
