Description
This position requires extensive knowledge of testing methodologies, best practices, and QA procedures and includes large testing efforts. Accountabilities also include dealing with multiple tasks with differing priorities, significant independent decisions, oversight of less senior team members along with recommendations in defining and implementing testing standards and guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops, executes, documents, reviews and communicates or presents test plans and cases using standard templates and guidelines.
- Validate that the software functions are defined according to business requirements, functional specifications and detailed design documents.
- Prepares verbal and written reports on testing results (e.g. defects, status, coverage, trends, pass percentage, etc.) and determines how best to communicate them. May raise issues directly with key stakeholders.
- Reviews and analyzes technical documents (requirements, design, & functional specifications) to identify scope changes (omissions and/or additions), non-testable issues, conformance, ambiguity, etc. Validates that technical documents conform to the scope document.
- Troubleshoots client issues and/or defects including, investigating, reproducing, localizing, identifying root cause(s), developing work-arounds, and resolving issues.
- Establishes and maintains open communications to cross-functional teams and provides input and guidance relative to the most complex QA issues throughout the Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC).
- Develops and reviews effort estimates for writing, executing, and reporting test results based on technical documents and test cases.
- Develop beta liaison forms for hand off to configurations manager. Assist in installations and beta releases, with some analysis and testing efforts dedicated between beta releases.
- Researches/identifies and implements new testing methodologies. Develops processes and procedures that contribute to the continuous improvement of QA.
- Provides training, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and constructive criticism to less senior staff.
- Facilitate large testing projects, which may include significant independent decision with minimal management oversight. Errors in judgment may have significant short/long term impact on business clients, operations and financial results.
- Maintain application and business knowledge for a minimum of two primary systems. Act as an information resource and a subject matter expert for those applications.

Qualifications:
- Four or more years experience in Quality Assurance testing, with extensive knowledge of testing methodologies and best practices.
- Knowledge of client/server systems architecture and networking. Experience with SQL and Oracle (or other enterprise RDMS), Retail or Point of sale experience a plus.
- Experience with MS-DOS, MS-Windows 95/98/NT, and UNIX operating systems.
- Project planning, estimation, and test tool experience, such as Mercury, Rational, Compuware, Star team, MS Access.
- Strong knowledge of software development life cycle, practices, and methodologies with exposure to or experience with programming languages (Delphi, Cobol, C, C#, Java).
- Experience with batch file scripting, test tool development (C/C++, VB, etc.), and automated test tools a bonus.
- Ability and willingness to adapt to the unique style and fast pace of Hollywood Entertainment QA is a must.

- Computer Science degree or equivalent job experience
- Software Quality Testing Engineer Certification or equivalent experiencedf-tc
