Test Manager--Information Technology

Responsibilities

Coordinate the System, Integration, Regression and Performance testing of functions for technology applications, systems, and projects to ensure that customer expectations for quality and schedule are met. Creates and revises test plans and procedures as required
Participate in all aspects of the software development process to champion company and quality standards and procedures. Recommends program improvements or corrections to developers and project managers
Verifies that the system meets company standards as defined by "cookbooks" and functional requirements
Analyzes issues to determine business impact, potential risk, and possible workarounds
Creates test reports and system testing metrics on project status as needed
Ensures the coverage of product requirements and scope by reviews and approves test scripts, test plans, test reports developed by on site and offshore team members
Manages and oversees system, Regression, integration and performance testers both onsite and offshore
Responsible for developing automated test cases for system, integration, regression, performance and load testing where applicable
Responsible for onsite testing resource and work allocation and coordination with offshore test leads
Manage, train, and mentor a team of junior testers
Approves software migration to system testing and UAT environments
Adhere to corporate information security guidelines and promotes information security and the protection of automated corporate assets among co-workers by encouraging them to practice safe computing and follow information security guidelines.
Leads and owns the software testing group and practices and institutes best testing practices and ensures the overall proper software testing governance
Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Considerable knowledge of applications life cycle, with demonstrated knowledge of software development, testing, debugging, and implementation
Demonstrated ability to document and perform applications testing, debugging, etc.
Considerable knowledge of best practices of system, integration and performance testing as they relate to applications development and implementation
Ability to effectively supervise a testing team
Ability to adhere to established, systematic software testing protocols and plans
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to continuously seek quality service and process improvements in order to support company mission and strategic vision
Demonstrated ability to work with onsite and offshore testing resources.
Education, Experience, and Licensing

Associate’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, with 7 years of experience successfully testing software and/or performing software development oriented activities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
2-3 years experience in a lead role managing onsite and offshore test resources
Good understanding of and 3-4 years experience working with different software methodologies such as waterfall, rational unified process and agile.
1-2 Years experience working with IBM rational tools such as Requisite Pro, ClearCase and ClearQuest
1-2 years experience working with Defecting tracking tools
Preferred Qualifications

1-2 years Experience working with Microsoft Project, Share point and some knowledge of Visual Basic and .NET
1 year Experience with automated test tools such as load runner/win runner and Mercury test center
Formal training and/or certifications in automated testing and tools
1 year Experience working in a CMMI environment
Experience with both manual and automated testing
Bachelor"s degree

Manages and leads Software Testing department projects in order to verify that applications function according to user requirements, conform to established guidelines and quality standards, and are ready for release. Authors and revises test plans, test scripts, procedures, and related reports.
