ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Test process definition, implementation, and verification
  
  
• Operations Engineering Plan
• Detailed plans describing the work required to
  meet the assembly/test strategy
  
  
• Review the product design for test coverage requirements identify the test coverage goals and methods to validate with design team
  
  
• Drive DF* (design for) test reviews with design engineering team
  
  
• Test input into new product test strategy
  
  
• Implement the product test process, time, sequence, diags used, environmental conditions and test-log/result data reporting required throughout the supply chain.
  
  
• Write Product-specific test scripts.
  
  
• Qualify all f/w, o/s, diags (and product) before release.
  
  
• Ensure each site runs the same process.
  
  
• Develop product integration tests.
  
  
• Definition, development and qualification for all factory sw tools.
  
  
• Ensure each site has infrastructure and tools which provide equivalent capability (future designs must be functionally identical).
  
  
• Collect test data and drive improvement of test infrastructure performance.

Key skills for NPI:

• WWMFS of OS and patches

• writing scripts

• auditing of CRs and ensuring proper controlled deployment of test
  pkgs

• Ensure test readiness

• Ensure test process complies with PDP

• Understanding of EM test environment (e.g. CATS)

• Having lab system to mimic production flow

• Coordinate the validation that production can handle volume test
  (run volume pilot before we say we are ready)

• Verifying of logs on all stages to ensure test readiness

• Coordinating the External Manufacturer test activity to ensure
  Sun's best interests are foremost.

• Provide the technical expertise needed by the EM to resolve more
  complex issues

• Provide guidance on possible/future issues or consequences of
  actions they may make to the test process

• Ensure test process consistency (where possible) with other
  products.

• Advise on prioritizing on Change Request to try and prevent big
  issues from building up

• Constantly ensure we have visibility of the EMs manufacturing
  floor (this relies heavily on cooperation from the EM and regular
  accurate status reports and TE responding to these)

• Review of all test procedure documents (e.g. IST build and test
  document), consult, advise , proactive work to keep product moving
  thru NPI

• Liaising with the PEs to ensure the test process meets their test
  spec

• Debugging test issues that the EM cannot resolve
