Functional Description:
ACS is in search of an experienced Training Specialist / Instructor to join a team in Essex / Hanover Maryland responsible for designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating training on current, upgraded, or newly designed applications. This individual will be part of a team of instructors whose primary responsibility will be to train end users via face-to-face training in various locations across the state, web-access training, or other methodologies. Additionally, this individual will share responsibility for design, development, and evaluation of online training using an LMS tool.
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver training programs in a group classroom setting, online, or on a one-to-one basis.
  • Conduct training needs analyses to appropriately tailor materials to needs of end users and demands of the business.
  • Design, develop, and maintain user-friendly training materials such as reference manuals, handouts, and exercises.
  • Design and develop in-depth instructor guides.
  • Prepare the learning environment and resources, including set up and testing of IT equipment;
  • Support and coach learners both face-to-face and through online or hardcopy materials.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training methodology and course materials
  • Assess participant learning.
  • Effectively communicate with external and internal clients, third party interests, and others within the organization.
  • Assess hardware and software used for training purposes and recommend repairs and upgrades to management where appropriate.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant systems, software and online training technology.
  • Maintain administrative records.
    Education and Typical Years Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years experience working in an Information Technology (IT) environment developing and delivering training.
  • 5+ years delivering classroom instruction in an IT environment.
  • Experience developing and delivering remote training via Webinars, or other similar technology.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively at all levels within the project team and the organization, both internal and external to ACS.
  • Solid understanding of software development life-cycle (SDLC) phases (initiation, planning, etc.)
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and focused on high-quality delivery of work products
  • Superb organizational and time management skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency in use of PC and related office software applications.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing requirements dictated by professional services environment.
    Special Requirements
    Experience with government operations
    Overtime may be required to meet client deadlines
