We have an immediate need for a UNIX Linux Admin

JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB SUMMARY: The UNIX/Linux Administrator will design, install, configure, administer, tune, and optimize UNIX and Linux system Servers and related components to achieve high availability and performance of the various business applications supported. Will provide support to Red Hat Linux and IBM AIX environment, as well as support for IBM SAN and Tivoli Backup Manager.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Support the implementation of new and upgraded business systems.
2.Recommend alternative solutions to operating system configurations to ensure industry best practices are followed regarding system availability, backup, and security.
3.Develop key automation tools for streamlining workflow and systems management.
4.Configure and build new images for product and development use.
5.Develop and maintain procedures to comply with IS best practices.
6.Maintain documentation of systems configurations and procedures.
7.Work with other systems administration and networking team members to ensure thorough communication of systems environment status.
8.Work with development, Quality Assurance, and other administrators to develop and implement improved application and enhancement deployment practices.
9.Monitor the availability of patches and updates, as well as evaluate the importance to the environment and schedule installations accordingly.
10.Assist Service Desk with problem resolution and answer system usage questions.
11.Work with users to schedule application of patches, software updates, and hardware updates.
12.Work with the Business Continuity Team to refine and test disaster recovery systems and procedures.
13.Work with hardware and software vendors to resolve hardware outage and software defects.
14.Keep current with the latest hardware and software technology, and evaluate technologies as needed.
15.24x7 on-call rotation for support of production systems.
16.Additional duties and responsibilities as requested by the Manager of Technology and Enterprise Architecture.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Essential Qualifications and Skills:
-Bachelor degree in a business related area.
-Strong management and coordination of people and project skills.
-Ability to build strong relationships with others and utilize a cooperative approach to problem solving.
-Provide experience in complex ERP environments.
-Strong experience in IBM AIX advance virtualization.
-Strong experience in IBM SAN management.
-Strong experience in IBM Tivoli Backup management.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
-Certification in UNIX/Linux administration.

MUST HAVE SKILLS (per client):


- Strong AIX experience

- IBM VIO & NIM experience

- Redhat Linux experience

- IBM Storage(SAN) experience

- TIVOLI Backup experience

- Enterprise work environment
