As a mature and responsible technical professional, you will be the new equipment evaluations Engineer for a rapidly growing, financially-stable pre-IPO firm located in the Marina area of Richmond with great benefits and awesome career opportunities.The ideal candidate would be a System Admin (preferably UNIX, but not required) with server hardware experience. Working in a lab environment, you will be responsible to evaluate new hardware and build servers and server cabinets and load software on servers for testing prior to shipping equipment to production sites in the field. You will provide phone support to your engineers in the field as well as ship and receive parts to and from the field. Requires a "can do" attitude with creative thinking i.e. cannibalize lab equipment to minimize down time in the field. You'll also be responsible for assisting the field engineers in troubleshooting, diagnosis, resolution, and repair of server hardware & Network Operating System problems, as well as issues with attached PC-based peripherals. (Field engineers are responsible to support client's desktop-based electronic lockbox remittance application which runs on Free BSD Unix). Interviewing now for immediate hire.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess the following skill requirements: A minimum of 5 years experience in configuration of server hardware from component level up to in-production mounted in a rack. At least 5 years experience with first-hand experience and support of Network Operating Systems (Novell Netware, Microsoft NT Server). Must be able to configure SCSI termination without manuals, and configure software RAID and various levels of hardware RAID arrays and have actual hot swap experiences and be prepared to discuss those situations. Experience with server NOS software version upgrades or brand-to-brand migration experience is a plus. Must be familiar with at least 2 PC-based O/S. Experience in Windows desktop migrations, and LAN Administration is preferred. Some knowledge of UNIX would be an advantage (UNIX system admin experience would be ideal).
