Description
Integrated Maintenance Information System (IMIS) UNIX system administrator to be located in Palmdale, CA. Will maintain the IMIS Contractor Support Field Database system as setup at Palmdale. This person will be responsible for setup, inventory, and maintenance of the IMIS equipment. This person will be responsible for the configuration of both the equipment and the data stored on the system. This position will also require knowledge of IMIS applications. This position will also be responsible for the collection and reporting of system metrics and security audits of the system. Will be responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining UNIX workstations and servers, in support of program processing requirements. Performs software installations and upgrades to UNIX operating systems and layered software packages and maintains them in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum level of performance. Ensures UNIX workstations/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of UNIX workstations/servers for compliance with established standards, policies, procedures and configuration guidelines.



Skills required: Experience with UNIX system administration. Experience with Relational Databases. Strong interpersonal skills. Experience with Microsoft Office Products.

Typical Minimum Education
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience; or no experience required with a related Masters degree. Considered experienced, but still a learner.
