Description
Provides a secure, stable and highly available environment, including performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring and recoverability. Provides support in dynamic, stressful situations and optimizes availability of system services; manage infrastructure as well as financial systems, enterprise EMC, storage, and corporate DNS. Maintains solid knowledge of backup and recovery technologies, security/firewalls, network, and storage technologies. Implements and maintains system monitoring tools such as HP-IT/operations or BMC-Patrol. Leads projects, develops plans and accepts responsibility for assigned project's timely completion. Documents and supports standards, policies and procedures. Communicates effectively with customers and vendors and is a mentor for teamwork while working on a team of four administrators in an open environment with a high level of communication and interaction on an ongoing basis. Take a wide-angle view utilizing your broad range of knowledge supporting the big picture vision. Completes other job-related duties as assigned.

Must posses strong security skills, history as primary for at least 20 servers in a highly distributed environment, as well as infrastructure skills such as DNS and send mail.

Prefer experience with EMC or other SAN based hardware and software. Also prefer experience with HP and Sun hardware and software.

Ability to be on four week rotating 24/7 support schedule as lead for daytime support and primary for off hours.df-tc

Experience/Skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline; or equivalent in experience. 5+ years of technical experience, including 3 years of system administration in a distributed, highly available environment. Experience evaluating system performance and trouble-shooting problems involving business applications, OS software and server hardware. Experience creating and maintaining administrative shell scripts. Experience training/mentoring other system administrators. Strong analytical, interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to rapidly absorb and implement new technologies and procedures. Experience with multiple Unix operating systems including HP-UX and Sun. Ability to rapidly absorb and implement new technologies and procedures; legacy is HP-UX for databases, storage and ERP with Sun running DNS and mail routing; moving toward Sun ERP platform. Experience evaluating and installing hardware, software and new technologies.
