Description
Robert Half Technology is currently looking for a Unix Administrator level II for a new client. This is a permanent position in the Gainesville/Alachua area. Our client provides relocation expenses, excellent health insurance benefits, 401K and vacation. You will be part of a small team but an enterprise environment.Job Duties: Administer, maintain, and provide ongoing support for the UNIX environment. Responsibilities include: AIX and Linux Operating System software installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching; storage allocation and forecasting, performance monitoring and optimization, implementation of security standards; 3rd party software installation/configuration, implementation and testing of backup and recovery procedures; scripting; problem identification and resolution, and documentation. Other duties could include, assisting in IP Administration functions, Content Switch maintenance, terminal server configuration, PPP maintenance, LDAP, Oracle OID maintenance, Proxy server setup and maintenance, various security tasks related to encryption and transfer of files. Assist in the research, analysis, and recommendation of standards, procedures, and new technologies to improve UNIX system availability, performance, and recovery. Assess project proposals for compliance with UNIX standards, risk, implementation and ongoing support requirements, and ability to meet proposed timelines. Perform the role of lead UNIX administrator for assigned projects. Organize and lead meetings. This position may be required to access confidential data in order to perform job responsibilities. On-call support responsibilities are required Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Information Technology preferred. Three years of UNIX (AIX or Linux) System administration experience is required. Hands-on experience with the following products or tools is desired: Oracle, NIM, LDAP, mksysb, or UNIX scripts. Familiarity with the following products is considered a plus: UC4, UDB, TSM, OID, or PeopleSoft. Must have demonstrated the ability to research, analyze, and recommend new standards, processes, or technologies to improve UNIX system availability, performance, or recoverability. Must have demonstrated the ability to define the scope, level of effort, and implementation timeline for assigned projects. Must have demonstrated the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment to achieve corporate objectives.
