Robert Half Technology has an immediate opening for a Sr. Unix Administrator with one of our clients in the Atlanta area. One of the leaders in travel technology resources for travel suppliers, travel agencies, e-commerce sites and corporations worldwide. The Unix Systems Administrator works on problems of diverse scope around AIX and Red Hat Linux Enterprise v4 supporting critical systems.You need AIX v5.x and Red Hat Enterprise Linux v4 and above.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Proposes and implements system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the multiple Unix flavored systems.• Recurrently monitor trouble ticket system for new issues and utilize ticket management software to monitor and track customer issues.• Provide technical input for, and assist in the maintenance of departmental documentation relating to system administration policies.• Monitor and report on any issues to ensure availability of systems is met, and appropriate remediation procedures are followed.• Monitor and maintain trending data to predict issues with customer systems. • Communicate daily with customers via e-mail and phone, providing a status of the system and letting the customer know that a check has been performed. • The system admin also loads the monitoring tools we use when bringing a new system into support. Knowledge of BMC Patrol is a plus. • Participate in customer initiated change management process and planning sessions. Perform upgrades and patches of the OS when required.• Off hours work is required often to accommodate planned customer downtime. Pager rotation is required.

Experience/Skills
Requirements• We need HPUX v11 and above, AIX v5.x, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux v4 and above.• 5-8 years combined systems administration in complex multiple OS networks – Required.• 1-3 years in relevant 24x7 highly available, on-call environments.• 1-3 years working in environments with Oracle / MSSQL.• Demonstrated ability to install and configure HPUX v11 and above, AIX v5.x, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, understand limitations of hardware, configure networking and file systems, configure the X Window System; configure security, set up common network (IP) services, carry out diagnostics and troubleshooting and system administration including DR (Disaster Recovery) and backup.• Scripting experience.• TCP/IP networking experience.• Ability to work and multitask in heterogeneous environments including Linux, UNIX (AIX, HP) and Windows servers.• Required to be flexible, detail oriented and organized with the ability to multitask and work independentlyIf you have any question please contact Michael Stevens at 404-233-1382 or Michael.stevens@rht.com
