Description

TrueBridge Resources, a professional services staffing firm, is assisting a premier client in the Washington DC area in a search for a UNIX Systems Administrator on a 6 month Contract to Hire basis.

Responsibilities:

Participates in operational management for monitoring as well as the day-to-day administration of monitoring tools that gauge operating systems, network, Oracle databases, IP load balancing (BigIP), Web application Servers (Java Websphere, PHP and Cold Fusion) and system performance.

  • Maintains PHP/Apache, Websphere, Java Tomcat, BigIP, ColdFusion & Java Jini, Linux and Solaris Servers
  • Assists developers and project managers with infrastructure policies and be a point of contact for technical assistance
  • Participates in projects to upgrade or migrate infrastructure systems and services
  • Participates in planned maintenance windows; provide key verification assistance
  • Assists in capacity planning for supported server platforms
  • Reviews logs and develop and maintain automated log review methods; provide monitoring and recovery of scheduled developer jobs
  • Serves as a liaison with internal systems administration staff on key overlapping technical areas (eg, VMWare and NetApp storage)
  • Writes change log, change control forms and Knowledgebase documents to improve operations and to contribute to development of a higher CMM rating for IT organization

Candidate Requirements:

A Bachelor s degree in computer science, management information systems or related field (or equivalent experience)

2 years experience in systems monitoring administration/architecture UNIX/Linux is required

  • Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and popular Internet services
  • Experience with F5 BigIP LTR
  • Demonstrated knowledge of administering, Apache, Tomcat, PHP and Cold Fusion services
  • Experience with CVS or Subversion administration is required
  • Knowledge of Oracle RDBMS and key open source applications are major pluses
  • Systems administration-level knowledge of DNS/BIND, SMTP/Sendmail, SNMP/NetSNMP, KERBEROS+AD, NIS, SAMBA, NFS, Perl and Shell Scripting are major pluses. Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Solaris; HA clustering with Heartbeat and DRBD knowledge are major pluses
  • RHCE a major plus
  • Extensive experience in TCP/IP networking is required
  • Experience in administering Websphere is a major plus
  • Experience with VMWare administration is a major plus as that is a major area of emphasis
  • Experience supporting Java application development a major plus
  • Experience administering Veritas Cluster Service is a plus
  • Experience with Oracle a major plus
  • Knowledge of Windows Workstation and Server technology a major plus
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Visio diagramming tool) is required
