Description
The Usability Engineer works on various project teams to develop and evaluate user-centered designs for Blackbaud applications.



In this role you will:

Work both independently and in conjunction with multiple team members and product groups to improve the usability of our applications while understanding business and technical constraints
Perform and communicate the results of user needs assessments, tasks analyses, heuristic evaluations and usability reviews of designs
Synthesize findings from usability evaluations to suggest improvements to the software, and/or suggest ways to capitalize on design patterns that delight our customers
Produce user interface designs and prototypes
Establish good relationships with multiple product teams; use those relationships to ensure design consistency and to disseminate patterns
Establish mechanisms to measure the effectiveness of our designs and our usability efforts
Help foster an open, creative, and productive atmosphere

Required Experience:

Experience and Skills

BA/BS in fields including but not limited to: Interface Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Psychology (Cognitive or Experimental)
Knowledge of current usability research and proven practical application of methodologies
Ability to articulate how usability practices add value throughout the product development lifecycle
Hands on experience planning and conducting usability tests
Two or more years experience designing and evaluating complex software systems
A passion for creating innovative software solutions and advocating for customers
Great negotiating skills and ability to creatively solve problems
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Ability to rapidly acquire new domain familiarity
