User Interface Designer

Freelance or As needed role

PCR is seeking candidates for a short-term/part-time consulting position with one of our retained clients in Charlotte, NC.  This role will be focused on working with the executive team of the organization to create the “look and feel” and enhance the usability of the GUI interface of their financial services products.  Candidates should have previous UI experience with software applications and/or Web interfaces.  Industry experience in financial services would be a plus, specifically with trading applications or sites.  The selected candidate will not be tasked with actual coding of the interface only with drafting “mock ups” that will then be used by the development team to create the live interface.  Potential candidates will need to be available for on-site meetings and presentation with the client.  The duration of the role will be based on the project but will not exceed 30 days.  There may be future opportunities for UI related work in the future as the project progresses.  This will be an hourly position offering a rate of $40 to $50/hr.

Responsibilities:


  • Performing requirement gathering with the executive team to determine project scope and to establish overall coordinated “look and feel” perspective

  • Creating “mock ups” of user interface screens to present for approval by the executive team

  • Presenting “mock ups” to the team while offering insight to the design choices and documenting feedback to hone in the designs

  • Creating final “mock ups” that will be used by the development team to create the live interface
Required Experience:


  • 5 Years professional UI design experience, ideally working in the financial services industry

  • Ability to interact with executive management team to meet above responsibilities

  • Ability to document specifications and use them to produce desired results

  • Offer a design portfolio for review

  • Offer references upon request
