Description
Our client had an immedidate need for a candidate to evaluate the needs of Equities Controllers processes and design, develop and implement IT solutions in order to achieve Controllers goals and execute the strategy of the Equities Division.

Principal Responsibilities

- Leverage native Excel functions to create macros that enhance spreadsheet productivity and ensure proper level of control.

- Redesign P&L Reports to reflect evolving business requirements and improve efficiency of p&l reporting process.

- Streamline End - Of - Day p&l reporting process.

- Utilize problem solving skills to facilitate ad-hoc project requests.

- Good understanding of Financial Systems and flow of data within a financial organization.

- Ability to transliterate business requirements into technical specs and devise appropriate technical solutions for a given problem.

- Extensive exposure to different technologies to come up with most optimal solution to a given problem.

- Develop understanding of various Equities Division businesses/products

- Interact with Equities Controllers throughout the day as warranted

- Support Equities Controllers efforts to verify the p&l, analyze p&l results, and critically review p&l data

- Participate in the development and facilitation of new products, procedures and systems

- B.E. Engineering / B.S. Computer Science preferred

- Minimum 2 years work experience in Finance and Brokerage industry.

- Strong analytical skills and detail orientation and ability to understand controller's requirements from a technological perspective.

- Strong MS Visual Basic and VBA (required), Open Bloomberg, Relational Databases like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase or UDB, XML (MSXML), XSL/XSLT (Using Microsoft XML Parser) and Data modeling tools like ER Win.

- Strong MS Office skills including interfacing Excel with Access or SQL Server and/or Excel with Word.

- Interest in equities markets, previous work experience in securities business desired

- Inquisitive and enthusiastic

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to work in a team under pressure

- Ability to work with minimal supervision
