Description

GENERAL FUNCTION: Provides leadership and direction to the Storage and Tape services teams on their projects, budget and overall technical directions. Directs cross-functional project teams during the development and implementation of major initiatives. The position is on the Managerial/Leadership ladder at level 3.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Strong understanding of SAN, NAS and CAS related storage including multiple replication technologies and ILM. 


2. Strong understanding of the interaction with the above technologies attached to bot Mainframe and Open systems.


3. Ability to articluate the, strategy, directions and operations of the entire staff.


4. Thorough understaing of IBM tape in support of both Open and Mainframe environments including remote backup technologies.


  Ensures project completion on time and within budget.
5. Develops and manages both long- and short-term goals for staff.
6. Develops processes and procedures to implement functional strategies. Creates and enforces policies and standards.
7. Evaluates and mitigates project risks. Manages project issues and project documentation.
8. Acts as primary liaison with vendors and senior management. Develops relationships with key internal/external customers to identify emerging needs.
9. Anticipates business issues to align operational priorities.
10. Manages resources to ensure financial objectives are met within own area.
11.  Resolves complex problems that have implications beyond own area.
10. Other duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include career development and coaching, performance management, and pay determination and communication of a highly skilled staff of Third level Engineers.

Experience: MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Requires 5-7 years or prior management/leadership experience and 8-6 years of technical expertise. Undergraduate or advanced degree preferred.
