Voice Technology Engineering Architect

The Mobile Voice Systems Engineer will be a Subject Matter Expert in CDMA based MSC, HLR, Media Gateway, PSTN, SS7, ISUP, VoIP, SIP and RTP. Expert in architecting, designing and documenting mobile voice systems based on CDMA 3GPP2. Must be able to create and document end to end call flows to make sure that the mobile infrastructure elements comply with the requirements.

Must be an expert in telecommunication protocols, supplementary services for mobile voice in TDM and VoIP system for 3GPP2/CDMA based mobile infrastructure. The supplementary services include, but not limited to Number Porting, voice roaming, regulatory services. Signaling including SS7, Sigtran, SCTP, H.248 and MAP. EMS, billing and monitoring system Interconnections.

The Mobile Voice Systems Engineer must be able to provide technical guidance to the Integration and Implementation teams on the CDMA/3GPP2 systems testing and deployment.

Create workable system wide network solution architectures and designs for the mobile voice services. Create business and technical use cases in order to make sure the proposed architecture and design meets business objectives. Assist in devising test strategy.

Advise and consult test and deployment teams on architecture and design related aspect of the mobile services.

Provide fourth/fifth tier of support to operations for issues related to mobile wireless services.

Work with the vendors to make sure that the design meets reliability, performance, security and operations guidelines.

1. Strong technical background in architecting and designing mobile voice infrastructure.
2. Experience in wireless switching core infrastructure with focus on CDMA.
3. Must have a thorough understanding and first hand experience of the call-flows in CDMA based switching network, including MSC, HLR and wireless IN.
4. A thorough, design and architecture level, understanding of mobile data Client Server architecture, supplementary services, SMS, MMS, WAP, LBS, voice session control, Directory Assistance and Unified Communications,
5. Must have understanding of the enhanced voice features in the wireless switching infrastructure and wireless IN environment.
6. Must have experience with TDM and IP based fixed network technology that includes design and implementation of soft switching, TCP/IP, VoIP, RTP, SIP, Sigtran, WIN, SS7 and Number Porting.
7. Must have a broad understanding of mobile handset clients, OTA technology and client interaction with network based mobile services.
8. An exposure to IMS in mobile network environment and LTE standards is desired.
9. Knowledge of Mobile Internet standards including Wi-Fi, OMA, IETF & 3GPP2.
10. Knowledge of software system architecture for mobile services and Real Time network elements.
11. Ability to cope in a dynamic start-up environment that requires interrupt-driven multi-tasking in response to constantly shifting priorities.
12. Ability to work with minimum supervision, learn quickly on the job in a fast paced environment, and proactively contribute as an experienced subject matter expert.
13. Analytical problem solving skills and the ability to resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative and practical ways.
14. Must have BS/BA in or Engineering or Computer Science or related discipline and generally 5-8 years of experience in related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in related field.
15. Good Communication skills (both verbal and written) in English.
16. Travel less than 25% may be required.
