Our Columbia, Maryland based client is looking for a qualified individual to join our Research Department. They maintain a staff of engineers who keep track of all new publicized vulnerabilities and then develop "plugins" for their system. These "plugins" are short programs that efficiently and accurately test scanned systems for the presence of the vulnerability. Often, being able to accurately test for the vulnerability involves manually configuring vulnerable targets in a virtual environment, analyzing the system or application to reliably understand how the vulnerability is exploited and then developing a method to test for the vulnerability with credentialed or un-credential access.
Research the source of known vulnerabilities
Develop "plugins" to be utilized by their system.
Research user needs and requirements and identify areas where changes can make maximum impact
Work with vulnerability data, log data and security events
Write documentation and provide solution assistance to the end user within the "plugin"
