Web Application Software Engineer

Location: Johns Creek / Duluth


Prefer local candidates, but will consider out of town/state candidates if they can relocate themselves.

Notes: The mission will be to port the current product that is written on Windows SQL Server 2003 with C# and .NET to a Linux platform. On the Linux side the platform is planned to be MySQL and 'Ruby on Rails'.

Candidate will have minimum of 3 years of C++
- Will have extensive knowledge of object-oriented programming
- Will have extensive knowledge of c++ compilers and debuggers
- Will have the ability to deploy finished c++ projects.
Candidate will have minimum of 3 years of C#.NET:
- Will be familiar with threading
- Will be familiar with Web Services and SOAP
- Will know how to use various configuration methods: Table-driven, .config files, and internal configuration variables.
- Will know how to implement libraries and utilize them
- Will know the basics of interop and COM
Candidate will have minimum of 5 years of SQL
- Will be familiar with setting up SQL and all related configuration
- Will be familiar with replication
- Will have a knowlege of archiving and splitting databases (for FoxNews)
Candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of ASP
- Will also have a minimum of 1 year of Javascript
- Will have some familiarity with AJAX
Candidate will have strong hardware skills
- Will have knowledge of RAID arrays
- Will have experience seting up web servers
- Will have experience setting up proprietary systems
Candidate should have the following skills:
- Will have extensive knowledge of Linux and associated utilites
- Will have knowledge of porting one set of code to another code base
- Ability to quickly learn a new system
- Experience in programming in scientific environments -- financials-only programmers may not be enough
- Ability to manage and set up IIS environments
- Will have a knowledge of SourceSafe
- Will have strong debugging skills
