Ajilon Consulting has an opening for a Web Designer/Information Architect in Portland for a 1 month contract. Searching for a web site designer / information architect to serve a consultant role in the redesign of the client's Plan. The redesign project is to improve the functionality and attractiveness of the existing web site. The project location is in Portland, Oregon. This is an immediate opportunity for an initial period of thirty days.

Primary responsibilities:
Gather and organize functional requirements for the Personal Education Plan.
Create a design prototype that is compatible and consistent with existing district web pages, and uses standard technologies
Recommend improvements to ensure that the content layout is accessible, intuitive, logical, and easy to navigate
Propose Web 2.0 functionality where merited, including such features as calendar, bulletin board, and messaging
Communicate and collaborate with functional staff and IT staff to efficiently and accurately translate functional requirements into the design.
Develop documentation and transfer knowledge of the design to IT and customer staff as needed.

Desired skills and background:
Ability to translate customer requirements into logical and attractive web page and site layouts.
Four or more years experience with web site design, preferably including experience with sites for educational institutions or designed for teen users.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, and dynamic HTML
Four or more years experience using interactive design, wireframes, dynamic prototyping
Four or more years experience with content management systems
Knowledge and demonstrated experience with cross-browser and cross-platform issues (i.e., IE, Firefox, Safari)
Attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and creativity in problem-solving
Ability to work effectively in a team and to communication clearly to stakeholders and team members
College degree with major course work in Graphic Design, or equivalent combination of education and experience
