PRIMARY PURPOSE


The Web Designer will perform all job assignments with a positive attitude that reflects the Zoological Society's mission and vision of connecting people to wildlife, conservation and pursues green/conservation practices when feasible. The Web Designer designs and develops new online experiences to support current and on-going marketing objectives; maintains existing Society web sites and social media; supports web design/development needs of outside departments. This position reports to the Web Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Designs web sites, newsletters and other digital marketing materials
* Produces HTML web pages, emails and newsletters utilizing CSS
* Produces full web sites, presentations and banner ads utilizing Flash and AS3
* Maintains and updates existing web sites and email communications for external departments
* Interfaces with various departments to identify project scope and needs
* Updates social media photo and video content


QUALIFICATIONS

A two year degree in Graphic Design or Web Design preferred or a related field or equivalent specialized training; a minimum of two or more years experience with design and layout of online content, HTML/CSS coding, Flash design/coding experience

Knowledge of

* Web design principles and interactive experience

* Use of XML and Flash highly desirable

* Content management systems and AJAX/JavaScript libraries is desirable

* Social media such as Face book, Twitter and MySpace
