Description
The front-end developer is a member of the web development team, bridging the gap between the programmers and the web designers. The front-end developer will work closely with designers, programmers, and editorial staff to implement the appearance and behavior of multiple web sites, using CSS, XHTML, and Javascript. Candidates must be comfortable working with adult material on a regular basis. Work with server-side programmers, designers, and editorial staff to gather requirements for page layout and application behavior. Create and maintain advanced client-side Javascript code. Implement the client-side portion of Ajax web applications. Act as a mentor for graphic designers and programmers on CSS and Javascript issues. Troubleshoot and address browser compatibility issues relating to CSS and Javascript code. Demonstrated ability to create a table-free web layout in XHTML/CSS from a design created in Photoshop. Must be able to create xhtml/css layouts that are cross-browser compatible. Strong familiarity with CSS design techniques. Ability to distinguish and describe the differences between liquid, elastic and rigid CSS layouts. Must be proficient in cross-browser CSS and Javascript issues. Strong understanding of techniques for working around browser incompatibilities. Must be able to discuss the benefits and limitations of various techniques. Strong Javascript experience, including experience with OO syntax and AJAX. Although we are not looking for a server-side programmer, prior experience working on sites that use Coldfusion, ASP, PHP, or some other server-side programming or templating language is strongly desirable. Experience working in a code-based editor such as HomeSite, Aptana, or Eclipse. Great attention to detail and good communications skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively about project schedules.
