Description

Robert Half Technology is accepting applications for a contract to full-time position as a Web Developer to join our Seattle based client on a contract to hire basis. You will joining a team of two other developers with an emphasis on coding both the front and middle tiers of applications with enough experience to connect the applications to the backend.


Description of the Web Developer position:
  • Writes, tests, and maintains computer programs and applications with some responsibilities for requirements gathering, developing to test with the bulk of the work being development. Maintain existing code and develop new applications from inception (full life cycle) make approved changes by updating documentation, develop detailed programming logic, coding changes, and testing results.
  • Conceives, designs, tests logical structure and implements custom applications. Updates, repairs, modify, and expand existing computer programs.
  • Provides support in the resolution of software and website related issues.
  • Research and recommend solutions and technologies appropriate with department goals.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Works under the supervision of the IT Manager.
  • Prepare useful system documentation including design documents, code comments, and user instructions.
  • Provide user training and support as required.
  • Creation of detailed program specifications and user documentation for project team. Write and maintain useful programming documentation which should provide insight into requirements and design decisions.
  • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of coded programs, create program test data and test plans. Also, assist in the preparation of systems acceptance test plans and systems test data.
  • Perform the debugging of programs utilizing all resources available to accomplish this task including dump analysis, data verification, language debugging, etc.
  • Evaluate simple interrelationships between programs such as whether a contemplated change in one module of a program might cause undesirable results in other modules.
  • Ensure that all assigned tasks are completed within the time scales required under normal development conditions.
  • Inform senior project staff of any delays in program development or testing.
  • Analyze performance of programs and take action to correct deficiencies based on consultation with users and approval of supervisor.
  • Confer with internal and occasionally external customers to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs.
  • Resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls.

    Experience/Skills
  • 4+ years development with C#, ASP.NET and SQL.
  • 1+ experience Web services.
  • Experience with the full SDLC and working with applications that are complex with multiple exceptions within the code.
  • Experience writing web applications with SQL as the backend.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of Windows operating systems and web development.
  • Superior skills in logic, problem solving, and planning as well as excellent written and verbal communication abilities are a must.
  • Ability to analyze and use independent judgment in systems development.
  • Position requires a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic and initiative.
  • Successful candidate must be able to create efficient, working code from written requirements.
  • Candidate must actively participate not only in application development, but also should actively participate in all phases of the application development life cycle from requirements gathering and clarification to coding, documentation, testing and implementation.
  • Self Starter with initiative and ideas they are willing to share. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and work well in a team environment. Candidate must possess excellent reading comprehension to successfully translate extremely complex business logic into functional web-based user interfaces for use by internal and external customers.
  • Nice to have skills: Certain applications were written in other languages some of which will be migrated in the future for example from VB.NEt to C# and classic ASP to asp.net. Therefore any experience with the following skills would be nice to have;Visual Studio, Classic ASP, VB.Net, VBA.
