We have an immediate need for a Web Hosting OS Engineer/Solaris/Linux/AIX

JOB DESCRIPTION
Web Hosting OS Engineer/Solaris/Linux/AIX (REMOTE)

Responsible for creating, testing, securing, and documenting the OS images used in the Web environment. They also develop, automate, test, and maintain the OS components and scripts for the Web Environment. The Web Hosting OS Engineer is responsible for engineering a successful life cycle for all OS images, components and packages.

Description of Project:

Activities include but are not limited to:
Creating and maintaining OS images in compliance with company policies (Solaris, Linux, AIX) Developing and automating OS component install/uninstall scripts (Perl/ksh) Support OS build automation (jumpstart/WANboot, kickstart, NIM) and pkg/patch management Work with all software component owning teams (Tivoli, MQ, DB2, BMC) to ensure that all software components integrate into the environment with no adverse affect Test and document engineered OS components Review, develop, test and automate OS security patch updates (APARs)

Core Skills:
Senior level knowledge of Solaris 8, 9, 10 Installation/Administration
Senior level knowledge of Linux RedHat Enterprise Server Edition AS 2.1, 3.0, 4.0 & 5
Senior level knowledge of AIX 5.2 or higher Excellent knowledge of Perl/Korn Shell Scripting (full automation install/fallback scripts, error checking, troubleshooting)
Senior level knowledge of VERITAS products; VERITAS Volume Manager,
File System, and Cluster Server ( must be 3.5 or higher).
Candidate must have installation/configuration experience.
Solaris Jumpstart/WANboot
Experience with Solaris Flash archives (setup and support)
Experience with Linux Kickstart (setup and support)
AIX (NIM) Network Installation Manager (setup and support)
Experience with SAN attached clients (setup and troubleshooting)
Strong analytical skills
Strong teamwork/communication skills
Strong OS and server troubleshooting skills
Conflict management skills
Ability to make good decisions under high stress/fast paced Web environment

Additional beneficial skills:
Solaris Containers (zones)
LPAR experience
Linux logical volume management (LVM)
Solaris Volume Manager (aka. ODS)
Solaris WANboot
Sun hardware (v480, v880, v1280, E2900, T2000, E15k/E25k)
IBM pSeries
Perl Scripting
LDAP
VERITAS Volume Replicator (VVR)
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP protocols
