Role: WebSphere Administrator/ System Engineer

Role Description: The WebSphere Administrator/ System Engineer would need to have at least 3 years of experience. The Senior Systems Engineer would be a seasoned Engineer, primarily responsible for configuring components, deploying applications, and troubleshooting defects. This individual will leverage knowledge of the industry best practices, web services, and the infrastructure to streamline deployment and support. This candidate may be called upon when needed to assist the development organization on critical deliverables. In this position, the candidate would support and perform a wide range of technical activities in support of the SOI middleware and web service applications. These systems include IBM WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Process Server, Web Layers, and other SOI components.

The Enterprise Integration Services/ SOA (EIS/SOA) Team is responsible for the end-to-end management of systems integration projects. The team manages client engagements and delivers components that provide enterprise-wide integration solutions throughout the Care Delivery, Health Plan, Business Infrastructure, and HealthConnect portfolios. Work products include Direct Project Management and On-Going Relationship Management for all Business Information Office Portfolios (BIOs). The organization drives the successful delivery of integration products from definition through production support.

The EIS/SOA Infrastructure, Support, and Quality Organization is responsible for infrastructure build out and support of enterprise application collaborations across disparate platforms. Within this organization, the Infrastructure Team bears primary responsibility for the SOA Infrastructure by building and supporting the related software and hardware components. These systems are used within all facets of the client, the electronic care delivery system, and within the Health Plan and Business Infrastructure business units. The Infrastructure team members who make up this group review solution requirements, confirm system capacity, perform system diagnostics and reporting, and roll out new components within the Service Oriented Infrastructure. The team applies industry best practices regarding Service Oriented Architectures and design patterns to ensure a quality solution is delivered to Production.

Responsibilities:

- Perform deployments of J2EE applications on WebSphere platform.
- Communicate effectively with the Development Leads, Internal Managers, Business/ Project Management, and other teams to review project documentation and determine testing needs.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Participate in internal design reviews.
- Contribute to production readiness/hand-off review before.
- Works on large, complex projects that have enterprise impact and require subject matter expertise of multiple electronic systems.
- Be an expert technical resource to the team, to management and to peers.
- Contribute to task identification, work effort estimates, and work schedules.
- Ensure work processes and products meet the standards.
- Train or mentor others as appropriate on specific area of systems expertise.
- Assist in development of training materials and/or conduct training.

Required Skills and Experience:

- 4 or more years of hands-on experience in configuring WebSphere application server and deploying related applications.
- 4 or more years of hands-on experience building, deploying, and/or supporting distributed applications built with EAI and SOA technologies (Web Services, J2EE, on WebSphere are required; experience with JMS, EAI, MQ, BPEL/Process Orchestration are a plus).
- Advanced knowledge of UNIX or Linux scripting and Operating System skills are required.
- Experience developing on the .NET platform development is required.
- Ability to decompose documents to identify deployment requirements and configurations for complex integrations.
- Proven ability to facilitate task breakdown and scope discussions, and can lead technical discussions with 5 or more contributors.
- Experience working with RUP and Agile teams is beneficial.
- Proven skills writing scripts and developing Java programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; good listener.
- Ability to prioritize work load and consistency meet deadlines.

Education:

- BA or BS degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
