Windows Engineer - MS Dynamics

The Windows Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and implementing programs, as required, to support the technical capabilities at client. To be successful in this role one must be able to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced environment. This role requires good communication skills, both with team members and business contacts. This role will develop and implement procedures for ensuring proactive maintenance of the Windows environment. In addition, the successful Windows Systems Engineer must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple concurrent projects. This role requires excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

• Provide on-call support for Servers
• Install HP hardware
• Support Dynamics CRM 4.0 infrastructure
• Support Dynamics application support teams with deployments, troubleshooting and performance tuning
• Provide support for standard server software including, but not limited to, Windows 2003/2008, SQL 2005, Exchange 2003/2007, VMWare ESX Server, Surf Control Spam/Web Filter, IronMail, McAfee Epolicy Orchestrator, Storage Central SRM, Crystal Enterprise, SMS 2003, MOM 2005/Systems Center 2007, SharePoint Portal Server 2007 and Faxination
• Ensure company standard server technologies are being followed by all business groups
• Assist in the implementation of group collaboration technologies within the enterprise
• Interact with hardware and software vendors to assure timely resolution to any issues
• Ensure Servers meet proper performance and capacity standards
• Ensure server backups are performed properly on a daily basis, perform requested data restores
• Participate in Windows Systems Group projects
• Participate in functional test planning and testing for the Windows environment and related applications.
• Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the Windows environment and related applications.
• Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the Windows environment and related applications.
• Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and taking responsibility for seeing those issues thru resolution.
• Mentor less experienced Engineers
• Research and implement new technologies to improve the windows environment

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Expert knowledge of Dynamics CRM 4.0 infrastructure and operations
• Excellent knowledge of Windows 2003/2008 server and client technologies
• Knowledge of Active Directory, Exchange 2003/2007
• Excellent knowledge of DNS, DHCP, WINS, TCP/IP, SMTP, NAT and network related technologies such as LAN/WAN topologies, transports and routing.
• Excellent knowledge of HP Intel based server hardware and rack deployment
• Excellent knowledge of system and network management tool concepts
• Excellent knowledge of Scripting languages such as Power Shell, Perl, VBScript, WSH, ADSI Scripting and Kixtart
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies and industry best practices for virtualization
• Knowledge of iSCSI storage and the integration with VMWare ESX Server, Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007 and Microsoft SQL 2005
• Knowledge of Anti-Virus and Personal Firewall technologies
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Accomplishes task with minimal supervision
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience
• 4-6 years experience in a large Data Center Environment
• Experience managing more than 100 Servers in a Data Center Environment
• Experience supporting Servers in a LAN/WAN environment
• Experience supporting HP Servers
