Job: Windows SQL DBA Role

Title: Windows SQL DBA, Client Technology Services

Client Technology Services (CTS) delivers measurable business value by providing core desktop technology solutions that meet business demand while realizing cost efficiencies. CTS works with our Line of Business partners to develop standardized, resilient operating environments and implement a global technology strategy for the firm's 183,000 workstations and 40,000+ remote access users.

In the role of Windows SQL DBA, you will be responsible for SQL Level 3 support in a large, fast paced, World-Class Enterprise environment. Windows 2003, 2008 server and advanced server are the primary server operating systems. You will participate in a rotating 7x24 on-call rotation to respond to escalated incidents, and act as the escalation point for assisting Level I and II support in Incident Management. You will respond to incidents escalated to Level 3 support in accordance with documented processes and procedures. In this position, you will listen to, understand and articulate the business value and impact of advanced technical and non-technical concepts in both written and oral formats to customers, peers and/or management in a one-on-one or team context. You will be need to seek management assistance when required to make decisions or communicate across organizational boundaries, and need to understand when to escalate issues. In this role, you will be involved in anticipating problem troubleshooting scenarios and will analyze ways in which to avoid the problem completely or greatly mitigate its risk. You will also be responsible for:

Monitoring trends in incident management, determining problems and resolving those problems

Performing documented system builds and complying with release management, change management, configuration management, and quality assurance standards

Documenting processes and procedures as assigned by management

Enforcing SQL Services and server configuration standard

Ensuring all managed Servers meet or exceed JPMCCSIRT standards (ESM & WESC). Responsible for server SQL application upgrades.

Providing customer project support

Gathering the statistical input for the monthly Briefing Book, and maintaining SQL run books

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be capable of documenting small-to medium scale projects with minimal supervision, and may be involved in developing and delivering presentations. Capable of routinely making effective and timely decisions in alignment with departmental direction based on sound business knowledge and the ability to solicit input from internal and external sources, including the ability to investigate and weigh best practices from other corporations, analyze input and use sound judgment. Capable of doing whatever it takes to support the tactical and strategic goals of the team and larger organization. Is recognized as a positive and motivational force on the team and negotiates skillfully in difficult situations with both internal and external groups.

Required Skills/Experience:

8+ years of hands-on support experience on SQL 2005/2008

10+ years of hands-on support experience on Windows 2000/2003, 2008 Server

3+ years of hands-on support experience on Active Directory

2 years of experience with Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM)

Working knowledge of Netware 6.0 and 6.5 preferred

3 years of VB (Visual Basic) Scripting preferred

2 years of general server support experience preferred

MCSE preferred

Team player, able to negotiate skillfully in difficult situations with both internal and external groups

Capable of dissecting complex situations and refocusing on the most critical technology tasks

Capable of developing small intra-team program and leading small to medium projects

Ability to listen to, understand and articulate the business value and impact of advanced technical and non-technical concepts

Ability to routinely make effective and timely decisions in alignment with departmental direction based on sound business knowledge and the ability to solicit input from internal and external sources
