Description
NOTE: This is a 3 month contract for hire opportunity.

The environment consists of approximately 50% Windows Servers and 50% UNIX Servers (a blend of both HP-UX and Solaris).

This is a day shift position with a rotating schedule to include primarily week days with some occasional weekend work.


Responsibilities include the following:

* Monitors all master console station activities and diagnoses systems problems.

* Documents all problems and takes corrective action as required. Reports all occurrences to appropriate management.

* Provides an accurate shift turnover to the appropriate incoming shift personnel, clarifying all outstanding problems and present status.

* Monitors all operational activities during a shift: determines the equipment setup needed by reviewing requirements, operation instructions and workload, evaluates system performance statistics, including system response time and problem reports, and recommends changes for improving performance.

* Interfaces with programming, network and production control departments as required.

* Ensures security of premises and data and monitors work performance of other operators.

* Places equipment service calls to respective vendors.

Web Technologies to include the .NET Framework (including C# and Java), Client/Server (Visual Basic, Object Oriented DBMS and tools), Infrastructure architecture and support (including Windows 2000, Active Directory, Exchange 2003 and Windows XP) and Mainframe (Relational DBMS to include DB2 and other development tools).
