Experience with A/S 400 upgrades, configuration and communications in iSeries, will work with 3rd party (in-house)products. Need Mid to Senior level people. No entry level.

The Sr. Systems Systems Administrator will design, install and maintain iSeries computer equipment and maintain data center support and control equipment. Responsibilities will include:


Collaborate with analysts or software developers to select appropriate design solutions or ensure the compatibility of system components.

Complete models and simulations, using manual or automated tools, to analyze or predict system performance under different operating conditions.

Define and analyze objectives, scope, issues, or organizational impact of information systems.

Develop or approve project plans and operating schedules.

Develop system engineering, software engineering, system integration, or distributed system architectures.

Direct the installation of operating systems, network or application software, or computer or network hardware.

Document design specifications, installation instructions, and other system-related information.

Establish functional or system standards to ensure operational requirements, quality requirements, and design constraints are addressed.

Identify system data, hardware, or software components required to meet user needs.

Investigate system component suitability for specified purposes and make recommendations regarding component use.

Monitor system operation to detect potential problems.

Perform ongoing hardware and software maintenance operations, including installing or upgrading hardware or software.

Perform security analyses of developed or packaged software components.

Provide advice on project costs, design concepts, or design changes.

Configure servers to meet functional specifications.

Develop, design, and maintain Data Center controls and environmentals, to include generators, UPS systems, Fire Suppression/Protection systems, and access controls

Experience/Skills
Requirements

5+ years experience with IBM Mid-Range servers, with 2 years experience with IBM i5 hardware and software

2+ years experience with IBM AIX Operating Systems

Experience with Microsoft software OS/400 Operating Systems minimum version V4R5 required

HMC Configuration and Management
