A Houston area client is seeking a professional, highly skilled individual in the role of iSeries Platform Manager. Select candidate will be responsible for ensuring the access security is effective in protecting the AS/400 (iSeries) computers that provide the majority of business processing supported by well documented processes and procedures. Provide robust application and platform security that includes: file security, network access security, user authentication reliability, security integration and OS.400 security provisioning. Defining strategies, methods and procedures to ensuring the protection of copies of data and its recoverability: backup procedures, backup frequency and retention cycles. Leading the efforts to establish reliable and effective SOX compliance procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze results and make changes to improve effectiveness of computer operations and undertake special projects assigned by supervisor.
Manage and work with others to implement secure computing environment for iSeries.
Design method to implement and test security mechanisms.
Manage computer operators and administrators, including creating documentation and arranging training.
Create, document and modify automated schedules in order to complete application system processing.
REQUIREMENTS:
Expert knowledge of AS/400 operating system (OS/400) commands and error codes.
Expert knowledge of global security settings and of user access permissions.
Excellent knowledge of Active Directory/LDAP and AS/400 security integration.
Excellent knowledge of LAN and WAN security risks and methods to secure user authentication. Knowledge of data backup and recovery.
Working knowledge of records retention strategies and of SOX compliance.
Mastery of Robot console automation system, including schedule setup.
Understanding of high availability AS/400 functions and software and ability to effectively manage that function.
Five or more years of IT operations management experience in an iSeries shop operating a high availability solution (iTera or Lakeview).
Extensive security measures covering OS/400 global settings and user provisioning.
Understanding of IP access, pass-thru and data backup and recovery.
Bachelor*s degree in Computer Science or Business. Salary of $95,000 to $110,000 with an exceptional benefits package. Houston is true to the pride of Texas.
