Description
Great Lakes Educational Loan Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced z/OS Systems Engineer. Our computing environment includes an IBM 2064-1C4 z900 processor as well as state of the art DASD, tape and software management systems.


POSITION SUMMARY

As a Senior Systems Engineer you'll be part of a team responsible for installing and maintaining a variety of hardware and software in a z/OS release 1.4 environment. This senior level position is also responsible for providing leadership and guidance to enable fellow team members to successfully complete project and support objectives. Essential duties include assisting management with project and systems software planning, change management and capacity planning; disaster recovery; staff development and strategic planning. Progressively responsible experience working in an IBM z/OS environment with demonstrated leadership skills is required.


QUALIFICATIONS

* A thorough knowledge of z/OS installation, configuration and administration (including but not limited to ServerPac installation); DFHSMS, HCD and WLM.
* A thorough knowledge of two or more of the following technologies: MQSeries, CICS, DB2, ChangeMan, Unix System Services, SAN, CA-7, CA-TLMS, Top Secret / RACF, TCP/IP, and VTAM.
* At least ten years of experience working in a mainframe environment as a systems programmer.
* At least three years of application development experience.
* The ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences, including management.
* A desire to work collaboratively in a team environment and the ability to assist, train and develop fellow support staff members as appropriate.
* Project Management experience and the ability to manage change as part of continuous service improvements.
* Knowledge equivalent to the completion of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
